Tree climbing

We have a tree on the side of the house that is just right for 3 1/2 year old "big" boys to climb.
He needs a boost up to get started. He loves to get up in the tree and pretend he is in the woods, even though there is only one tree.

He is even climbing the tree (in this picture anyway) barefoot. I just love that he is so adventerous, and has a great imagination, and is so full of energy.

Watermelon

We decided to try and grow watermelons this year. We had some pretty good luck. I was told you should only let 2 or 3 melons grow from a single vine. so we cut out any that grew after the first 3 got started.

But this one snuck by us because it grew on the other side of the fence. Unfortunately it came to a terrible demise when it got run over by a boating enthusiast.

This one grew right in the middle of the rock way.

And this one we picked a couple of days ago for Jason's Birthday Dinner.

Let me just say "It was YUMMY" next year I think we will try the seedless variety.

Down South

We headed down south last week.

Heres a clue of where we were.

We stayed at a great place, Highland estates. I liked it because first of all it was inexpensive (y'all know how frugal I can be. My boys call it "cheap") and second it had a kitchen.

We did a little bowling, Bruce found out its much easier on the WII!

In between Erin's turn at bowling she had to come sit on my lap, not sure why.

Erin was so cute bowling, we tried to find the lightest ball we could. She was so good at getting her own ball and throwing (actually it was more like dropping) it down the lane.

Then we headed over to Zions, believe it or not I had never been there.
We came across this long horn, and I knew I had to get a picture of it for Kai. I think he has every bull, cow, & steer that Cal Ranch sells.

When we got to Zions it was awesome. I think Utah has some of the most beautiful Canyons, Mountains, and Parks around. Unfortunately we picked the wrong time to come. They were repaving and widening the canyon. So there was alot of stopping, alot of flag men, and alot of pilot cars.

But the scenery was beautiful, and since we seemed to be stopped most of the time, once again I took way to many pictures.

This is the only thing that freaked me out literally. A mile long tunnel. Now normally I'm fine with tunnels because they are usually short and you are going fast through them. But this one we had to follow a pilot car, and it was only going 5 miles an hour, through a MILE LONG TUNNEL! Enough said.

Once again it was a great road trip.

Grandma Robinette

I've been looking through old pictures that my mom had, and I came across this one. The significant thing about this picture is first it is a four generation picture, and second it is the only picture I have of my grandma. As most of us know she never (with this one exception of course, and this took alot of prodding) let people take her picture. I loved how whenever you visited grandma she was always interested in what you were up to, and how everything was going. You could always go to the fridge and get a shasta, or the cupboard and get a cookie. And she never let you leave without a hug and a kiss. Grandma passed away 6 months after this picture was taken. I sure miss her.

Lunch with Aunt Nikki

Shelly and I headed down to Spanish Fork to have lunch with Aunt Nikki. It was so much fun catching up on what everyone is doing and remembering all the fun times we had when we were younger.

We also got to have lunch with our cousin Jody, We laughed about all the silly things we did at sleep overs, and how much fun we had at Provo park, and how much the park has changed. I loved how she remembered things I had forgotten.

When my mom and her 2 sisters got together there were 18 cousins to play with. There was always someone to play ball with, or tag, or games, or ride a bike. You were never bored thats for sure.

Not having Mom here has been hard, we all miss her. But I am glad her sisters are here. And I'm glad that they don't live far away, and that we can go down and visit with them and remember all the stories and all the fun we had, growing up!
