Kai and something to Eat.....

When we re-modeled the kitchen we got a new refridgerator, where the fridge is on top and freezer on bottom. The old one was just the opposite with the fridge on the bottom. This worked great for Mckai cuz he could open the old one and get what ever snack he needed. But the new one is a bit of a challenge.

But he quickly came up with a solution.... All he needs is someone to give him a boost!
Notice grandma's hand to the left. This is Kai's safety gear. You can't go climbing without it.

He was looking for something very specific...."hmmm let me see" I was calling out suggestions, but he was looking for just the right snack!

I believe on this climb he decided on the ever delicious "pickle" oh ya and a "Diet Pepsi" with ice. I just LOVE this boy.
P.S. Yep I'm the grandma, and he gets to do pretty much whatever he wants....within reason of course. We now have a stool he can use to get his snack from the fridge.

I found them..

The pictures from our trip to Vernal and Dinosaurland in 1996. I love looking at old photos it brings back so many fun memories.

They still have these dinosaurs outside the old Field House.....they have a brand new Field House they built a couple blocks down the street. But they left these dino's behind.

Brandon 14, Jason 13, Nathan 11, and Erin 6.

The bear behind the kids to the right of Jason is now in the new Field House. I took a picture below. They didn't have it in an exhibit behind glass, like they did in the old Field House it's just right out there along with all the other stuffed animals. I think I liked em better behind glass!!

A Mini-Vacation....

It's always fun to take mini-vacations. And I'm sure you can guess by the pictures below where we went??

Yep......Dinosaur Land in Vernal, Utah. I think the last time we were there was about 14 years ago when the kids were all little. I need to find some of those pictures we took and post them.

We always make sure that where ever we stay there is a POOL!
I love it when they advertise a "Heated Pool" and the water is ice cold......why don't they just say "Heated (by the sun) Pool"? Then people will know it's gonna be a little cold!
For some reason it never seems to bother Erin. But poor old Dad (Bruce) ....well lets just say he is a trooper!

We took a ride around town, and found the Vernal Temple. It looks just like a church, with the Angel Moroni on top. I love how no two temples are exaclty the same. They are all unique in there own way.

We rented a small (very very small) cabin. The best part about the cabin was that it had a swing on the front porch....YEAH!
It was someones favorite spot to sit. She even watched a movie on her DVD player while sitting there.

You can't go to Vernal and not take a ride up to Flaming Gorge. It was absolutely beautiful up there. We rode over to Dutch John & then over to Manila.

I don't think you can take a bad picture of the lake. I couldn't believe how many boaters were on the lake. We didn't see to much wildlife. I think a squirrel ran across the rode once.
It was a great trip. And lots of Fun.

A baby fawn stuck....

We went for a ride up Heber canyon awhile back. We saw a mother deer and her 2 fawns. As we slowed down to see them we noticed the Mother run off with 1 fawn and the other one didn't run. As we got closer we could see that the other fawn was some how tangled in the fence....Ouch! So being the wonderful Hubby he is Bruce got out of the truck to see if he could untangle him.
Its a little hard to tell, but its one of those wire fences where the squares are like 4 inches. I can't even tell how he got stuck. It's like he tried to jump thru one of the squares. The more he struggled the worse it got.

So Bruce slowly walked up to the fence, the fawn was scared and kept wiggling and getting even more tangled. A baby fawn crying sounds just like a baby lamb crying (just in case you were wondering)

The one thing we wished we would have had was a pair of wire cutters, because that fawn was really tangled up in that fence. The whole time Bruce is helping the fawn, the mama deer was getting very upset, she was just sure Bruce was hurting her little baby.
She was snorting, and charging the fence, kicking her hooves in the air. I have never seen a Deer act like that. Watching was a little scary. So every few minutes Bruce would stand up just in case mama deer made it over the fence and charged him, he could make a run for it.

Bruce hollered over and asked if "I was going to get out and help him instead of sitting there taking pictures?" . I hollered back "No Way, I'm a huge coward, I will stay right here in the truck where it's safe, cause that mama deer does not look happy. And besides why should both of us make her mad!"

Bruce finally got him free enough that he could wriggle through, and catch up to his mama.

I'd like to think that the mama deer turned around, gave us a look to let us know she was grateful to us for helping out her baby.

.
Hun your the best!!!

Swimming...

You can't go through summer without swimming. We went to the Murray Pool. it was the perfect time. We went at 5:30 and the pool was practically empty.

I usually put off telling Erin we are going, only because she wants to put her suit on and carry her towel around until we go. It's only a problem if you tell her the night before.. :-)

Grandpa got Mckai to jump off the side, but only if Grandpa would go on the Diving Board

Here is Grandpa making good on his promise......

Erin Loves the slide. I'm fine with it as long as someone is at the bottom to pull her back up when she sinks to the bottom. Yep Erin is a sinker!

After watching everybody try the slide, Mckai decided to go.

Here he comes...He loved it and went a couple more times!

Thanks for hanging on to me Dad, so I don't sink to the bottom like Erin.

Brandon just can't resist teasing Erin...which she LOVES...Brandon's excuse was that she kept splashing him so she was due for a dunking.

Rodeo's Parade's & Fireworks....

We had a great 4th of July. We started off with the Western Stampede Rodeo. I wish I would have taken my "Good" camera, cuz we were a little (a lot really) high up in the bleachers. I guess ya have to know somebody who knows somebody....to get the good seats!

I know Mckai had a great time.

So did Erin....they gave away cowboy hats. It took awhile for Erin to warm up to the idea of wearing one.

We attended West Jordans Parade. In the past we have gone to Murray's parade which starts at 8:30am. But West Jordans starts at 10:30am, so you can guess which one we chose. That and the fact that Brandon works the corner where we sit
I'm not sure what city this float is....what I liked about it is the "City Royalty" got to sit in a swing, and swing, and not stand holding onto a cane, trying to balance, not fall over, and wave to the crowd.

Erin loves parades. We should probably find more to go to.

Mckai and Grandpa Bruce like pareades too.

After the Parade it was off to get some breakfast/lunch. Then home for a nap. For me anyway.

My favorite part of the day is watching the fireworks. Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!
